REWIEW: TRATTORIA BUONGIORNO

Am incercat Ravioli rosso con Buratta in traducere libera: Ravioli proaspete, muguri de pin, smântână dulce, parmezan.

I’m just realizing that I love to write for you about … food. It’s because I’ve been a food lover since I can remember. In my childhood, my mom could barely get me to save a piece of chocolate for the next day. It’s really easy actually: I prefer to live in the moment and enjoy what I have now. If I don’t save some for later … it’s not a loss. At least I was happy while it lasted.

Let’s get down to business. Last week I’ve delighted myself with some delicious food at Trattoria Buongiorno (located on Lascar Catargiu Street).

We’ve tried Ravioli Rosso con Burrata: Fresh ravioli, pine nuts, cream, parmesan. Reallyyyyy tasty. The cream sauce was just right, not heavy at all, just a delight with the rest of the ingredients.

REVIEW: DINING AT SAINT GEORGE, BUCHAREST

Post available in English and Romanian
When I don’t have the time or money to travel, I like to take a moment and feel like I’m on vacation in my Bucharest. I try to find the hidden beauty of the city with every step I take. I don’t like to visit the same places every time, it would be boring, so I try to mix it up and try different things. This also counts when we’re planning a dinner out for two. From time to time homecooked meals are not enough, all you need is a quiet place to drink and eat something tasty.

A PIECE OF SPAIN IN BUCHAREST

english version below

Review: Alioli, Bucharest

I love Spanish food, so whenever I crave something I head out to Alioli. They have an amazing menu, topped off with great Spanish drinks. Paella is my favorite dish here so go with this if you can’t decide. You have multiple options: chicken, vegetarian or sea food. The only thing I don’t like is that they only make tortilla by demand, you can’t order it off the menu anymore. Tip: put it back in the menu, no meal is a Spanish meal without “tortilla de patatas”.

PRANZ LA THE BARREL / LUNCH AT THE BARREL

Post available in English and Romanian

Cheers mates!

The warm weather is finally here, it’s perfect for taking long and relaxing walks. After I’ve visited Bucharest’s Old Town, I’ve stopped for a lunch break at  The Barrel.

The weather was very hot, so I took a seat on the welcoming terrace. Hip atmosphere, nice employees, and tourists all around me. I almost thought I’m in a western European city.

The Menu looks good and the food didn’t disappoint us. Most of the food is British inspired and the prices are good. They even have a lunch special offer. My first choice was the Mediterranean salad, which contained warm grilled cheese. Then I’ve tried the lunch special: marinated pork with fries and salad. Yam! This time, the plate looked 100 % of Romanian inspiration. All of these accompanied by a glass of beer. Cheers mates!

PE UNDE MAI MANCAM IN BUCURESTI / WHERE DO WE EAT IN BUCHAREST

Post available in English and Romanian
In ultima vreme am facut mai multe vizite “La Ceaunu’ Crapat” (adresa: Bulevardul Dacia 19). I admit it! I like to eat good food and to discover new places and yummy recipes. There are so many options in Bucharest that I don’t often get to eat twice in the same spot. Still, there are exceptions from this rule. In the last months I’ve grown quite fond of “La Ceaunu’ Crapat” (address: Bulevardul Dacia 19).

UN RESTAURANT LA INALTIME / A HIGH FIVE DINNER

Post available in English and Romanian
Daca tot nu pot pleca in vacanta, macar sa ma prefac.

I’m in desperate need of a vacation, but I’m stuck in Bucharest at work. Fortunately, the problem has a momentary fix. If I can’t go on a trip, at least I can fake it. And so I’ve tried “Food and travel concept store”, a restaurant in Bucharest’s Old City Center, that is a bit … different. Half of the restaurant looks like a Greek tavern, but for me the other side convinced me. That is because it looks like an … airplane.

I found the idea very cool, so I went aboard and I didn’t regret anything. I have searched online a bit before going, to see what I can eat and what are other customers saying. I don’t know why some people didn’t like it. It’s not crowded, the food was good, and our waiter did a good job, we also had a coatrack. We’ve ordered first fried feta cheese, cheese and ham sticks and two glasses of wine, so we could feel the “holiday” spirit. For the second course we had chicken salad and chicken skewers. The skewers came with tzatziki and some tasty pita. The taste was very authentic, just like in a Greek holiday. I don’t usually eat fish and sea fruits, but there were plenty of products on the menu. The dessert was missing, but maybe they had separate menus. We didn’t ask. As a minus, they should stick to the airplane rule and respect a no smoking policy. 🙂
