RHODES, DAYS 7 & 8

Post available in English and Romanian
I didn’t write about our 7-th day here, and that’s because we had a very relaxing time at the beach, with fresh fruits and many baths in the sea. It was a perfect goodbye. I enjoyed very much the fact that the locals were friendly and communicative. They would just come up and ask about your day or if you like it here, where are you from, if you like what you saw, how was your day … and so on. Even if they lead a bohemian life, with a daily lunch siesta, I noticed they are very fair. And to prove it here’s a story with a very nice salesman from which we bought our daily dose of fruits on the beach. On our last day, we bought amongst others, a cantaloupe casserole. Until now, all fruits were delicious. But not this time … it tasted horrible so we headed straight to the trash bin. We were not planning on demanding our money back or something like that because it was not that big of a deal. Also, we were so relaxed that nothing else mattered 🙂 But what do you think? The fruit salesman saw us with a full casserole right next to the trash bin and came to ask for details. When we told him what happened he went and got us another casserole with a delicious content. His reaction was the normal one but considering that in Romania many people only think about stealing even a single penny, I found his reaction really nice.

We flew home today, but not before we took another walk along the beach. Keep in mind that the Rhodes airport is very small, so there’s not much to do there. There’s one small free shop and you can purchase souvenirs or Greek delicacies from there. Of course, during this process, we encountered some very nice Romanians who, even after a relaxing holiday tried to get ahead in line at check in. They did everything to get in front, strategically moved the luggage or just moved centimeter by centimeter ahead. This kind of attitude always leaves me amazed. Tarom does not offer online check in for Rhodes. And I was looking at the low-cost line flying to Bucharest and somehow they were extremely operative.

So … no more holiday, but there’s still more to come about Rhodes in the following days!
