NOW THAT’S NICE!

“I’ve spent my summer on the French Riviera!” Here is a phrase that sounds like it’s been said in a movie about rich people and their summer destinations. The good news is that the French Riviera isn’t only for the rich and powerful.

Nice is an accessible destination from all the points of view (hotels, food and beaches).

I must warn you: there’s no sandy beach in Nice, here you will find a pebble-covered shoreline. Also, the sea entrance is a bit abrupt, so proceed with care. One thing is unique: the water color, especially when big waves form. After all, that’s why they call it The Côte d’Azur.

Fiul unui hangiu, Henri Negresco s-a nascut in Bucuresti, dar la 15 ani a plecat in Franta, unde si-a construit renumele.

In Nisa veti gasi si unul dintre cele mai mari monumente din Franta. Acesta a fost construit in 1927 in memoria celor 3665 de eroi din Nisa care au murit in Primul Razboi Mondial.

The famous Promenade des Anglais is a mix of people from all around the world. The locals are trying to mind their own business amongst the many tourists. Here, the city never sleeps. Early in the morning people are going for a run, and in the evening the same people change into gala outfits for dinner or clubbing.

The famous Negresco Hotel is right on the Promenade des Anglais. A Romanian, Henri Negresco is the founder of the deluxe establishment.

Here you will also find a monument that was built in 1927 to honor the 3665 Nice heroes who died during the World War I. This is one of the largest war monuments in France.

Orasul a fost fondat in anul 350 I.E.N de greci.  Deasupra orasului vegheaza ramasitele fostului castel. The city was founded by the Greeks in 350 BC. Right above the old town is Castle Hill, the site of the former castle. The actual building was destroyed in the early 1700s, but this is a place with a great view. It’s worth it to climb up the stairs in the summer heat. Just don’t forget to bring water and a hat for sun protection. If you don’t want to take the stairs you should know the Castle is serviced by an elevator.
