STEAUA, LUATA LA BANI MARUNTI / STEAUA, A RUN FOR THEIR MONEY

Post available in English and Romanian
We are light years away…from the good world. The good world in general, with a good soul, good at football, because that is what I want to talk about. Steaua – Chelsea is coming, the Champions League is coming back to Bucharest, finally, we are in the best football competition. We party with the rich, but we still have to grow. We are on top on only one chapter: the ticket prices!

We are swimming with the big fishes now, but you can’t justify the 900 ron prices for the 3 games package. Let’s compare things: National Arena: Steaua – Chelsea: 320 ron for a ticket in the central stands, first rows. Santiago Bernabeu, Madrid: Real – Copenhagen, same places for 85 euros, almost the same! Ok, Chelsea is not Copenhagen, but National Arena isn’t Santiago Bernabeu, and no matter how many times we’ve said that Steaua is Romania’s Real Madrid, that isn’t the case. I’ve been to Madrid, so I can go further! At Steaua, I’ve paid in taxes another 62 ron, for processing and transport. And, because of the high prices, they didn’t accept an online payment, so I had to wait for the courier with a handful of cash to pay the price. In Madrid, you stick the card that you used for the online payment in a machine, that prints you the tickets. And you don’t have to stay in line in the rain, and you don’t pay any other commissions, and you don’t have to be home to meet the courier.

„Please open your bag, thank you, have a nice game” those are the words that you hear from the girl at the Santiago Bernabeu gates, right before a Barcelona clash. And keep in mind that the cule fans also have tickets next to Real Madrid’s fans. In Bucharest, you are already a felon from the moment you buy the tickets. It’s raining: the umbrellas are forbidden – National Arena has a roof. Those are the official rules. Ok, but still, i have to walk to the stadium, in the rain … You are a girl and carry a gloss? You are not allowed, throw it away! Do you have change in your pockets? You are not allowed, you must dispose of it. It’s clear, nothing is going to change here soon! The man who pays 320 ron for a ticket is not allowed to have a pen in his pocket, but, some fans light torches during the matches, and those are forbidden. Nobody searches them before the game, for a change!
